After watching THE TUDORS and A Man for All Seasons, I find that the birth of protestantism/anglican church is?

After watching the Tudors and A man For All Seasons, I find that; the birth of the Anglican Church/Protestantism was made/based on a very weak argument, that is; only to accommodate king Henry VIII's wishes to remarry. In this case, shouldn't the protestant rethink their position and veer back to Roman Catholicism?
