Which Moscow residential neighborhood away from the central tourist district is regarded as the toughest?

A friend told me of his travels in Moscow where they veered off the beeten path and found themselves in a tough industrial looking area of South West Moscow. They went into a local neighborhood bar and said it was wall to wall fistfights like something out of the Wild Wild West. He said it wasn't even night yet and everybody was staggering drunk in the place, including the bar maids. They went to a couple places around that neighborhood and said each place was the same. Falling down drunks and fights galore. What Moscow neighborhood does this sound like? he said there were a lot of tower blocks and heavy industry nearby.
