Is Tmobile still merging with ATT?

Im waiting to get a new phone but contract wont end until September. How does the merger affect me? Was thinking about getting a smartphone like unlocked iPhone but now I dont know..... Dont know about the other phones... Havent really researched. Oh i do like the HTC though.
